In a distinguished legal career, Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent Anthony De Gaetano has been the Deputy Attorney General for Malta, has served on various Council of Europe expert committees, and was appointed Chief Justice in 2002. In 2010 he was elected to the European Court of Human Rights, and served as vice-president and later as president in two sections of that court. He has been a senior lecturer at the University of Malta and has spoken and published extensively in Malta and abroad on legal and human rights topics. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Interviewer José Young was born in Trinidad and graduated in law from the University of Northampton. He is currently in Manchester pursuing a post-graduate degree in law with a view to becoming an attorney in Trinidad.
